Why See Sacramento Ballet - Carmina Burana?
Complete with full chorus and orchestra, Sacramento Ballet will be performing the magnificent display which is Carmina Burana. Carl Orff is the mastermind behind the stunning score of music which is full of passion and erotica, it ignites the senses and gives an intense experience, one that shan't be forgotten.
Sacramento Ballet was founded in 1954 through the efforts and leadership of Barbara and Deane Crockett. Since Ms. Crockett's retirement in 1986 as the company director; Sacramento Ballet has received annual funding and the company's budget has been growing steadily. Their mission is to: Entertain, educate, inspire and engage people through the powerful vehicle of dance.
Carmina Burana is a scenic piece composed by the legend Carl Orff in 1934. The piece is based on 24 poems from the medieval collection. Translated from Latin, the full title reads: Secular songs for singers and choruses to be sung together with instruments and magic images.
