What is the story?

Set in the 1950s, this tale focuses on Joe, a devoted baseball fan in his forties, and a mysterious figure who calls himself "Applegate". And it seems that Applegate has an offer too good to refuse! Combining the age-old fable warning against making deals with the devil, with an all-American sports background in baseball, this musical is about as American as it can get! Joe is offered the gift of youth; he can be 22 again, join his favorite team, the Washington Senators, and become a hero by helping them beat the Yankees. Joe agrees to leave his wife and home behind, but he insists on an escape clause so that he can return...but will he make it in time?
