Drugs, Vietnam and sex collide in this era-defining musical

Why See Hair?

Musicals

Let the Sunshine in!

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Hair is back in an all new production! One of the defining musicals of the 1960s, Hair is a mind-altering exploration of sex, drugs and politics that led Broadway into the modern age with its counter-culture message. While its hippie aesthetics may seem outdated, Hair's themes of human equality couldn't be more relevant to our modern age. Among its iconic numbers, many of which became pop standards in their own right, are 'I Got Life' and 'Aquarius'.

The show's original writer-lyricist James Rado has revised the book for this new tour, which is directed by Michael Arabian.

What is Hair About?

Hair centers on a 'tribe' of young hippies living in a commune New York. The Vietnam War is well under way, and the possibility of conscription casts a dark shadow over the group. Against this backdrop, they must struggle to establish their identity in a country which seems to stand for everything that they're against.
