A stunning springtime double bill
A ballet double-bill, Sacramento Ballet welcome the joys of springtime with a charming rendition of their work Peter Pan, featuring The Boy, Wendy, Michael, John, Tinkerbell and of course, the dastardly Captain Hook! A nonstop flight of fun and whimsy awaits you and the kids, in Ron Cunningham's modern classic.
Joining the programme is a tour-de-force in dance, an ode to one of music's most celebrated composers. Viva Vivaldi was choreographed Gerald Arpino, one of the co-founders of Chicago's lauded Joffrey Ballet. Viva Vivaldi was performed as the season opening and closing dance up until 1970, but remains part of their repertory. Known for its two very different styles of dance, the first part is slow and stately while the second part shows off the skill and talent of the female dancers. The third movement is dramatic and smoldering and the final movement is a brilliant display of virtuoso turns and leaps in a mock competition between the two lead male dancers.
